Keeping your data center or server room running reliably requires more than dependable IT equipment. Temperature, humidity, water leaks, power failures, internet downtime, and other environmental conditions can put critical infrastructure at risk.
An environmental monitoring system for data centers and server rooms provides 24/7 visibility into these conditions, helping IT teams detect potential problems before they lead to equipment damage or costly downtime.
What Should You Monitor?
A complete server room monitoring solution can track critical conditions such as:
- Temperature and humidity – Identify overheating, and unsuitable humidity levels.
- Water leaks – Detect leaks from cooling systems, pipes, and other sources early.
- Power conditions – Receive alerts for power failures and changes in critical equipment status.
- Smoke and environmental risks – Get early warning of conditions that could threaten IT infrastructure.
- Motion, door and access status – Know when sensitive areas are opened, or if there is unusual motion.
Get Alerts Before Small Problems Become Big Ones
Real-time environmental monitoring allows your team to receive alerts when conditions move outside established thresholds. Instead of discovering an overheating rack or water leak after equipment has already been affected, personnel can respond quickly—even when no one is physically in the server room.
Environmental monitoring also provides historical data that can help IT and facilities teams identify trends, investigate incidents, and make better infrastructure decisions.
Our Fort Environmental Monitoring System (FEMS) can provide SMS and e-mail notifications.
